Sweet drum circle last night.

sweet-drum-circle-last-night

The owner, Patrick, opened up and gave the go for our first drum circle and it was sweet. We had a nice fire at the center of the island where two men on acoustic guitars played in between sets of the drumming, giving the night a perfect musical balance. Three women in their early twenties got up and danced around the fire. One in serongs, one topless and another nude. (We are “clothing optional”) It was very obvious these women felt very comfortable and safe in this crowd of strangers.  They encouraged the older men to get up and dance with them. One man danced with a cane and another was “chair dancing” from his wheel chair with one young lady. It was a beautiful blend of enticing and artistic. This is the kind of comfort level an event can have when you take the time to do background checks on people entering the property and you have permanent residents that care about the reputation of where they live. We would never be able to have something like this at Haulover Beach where what the girls call “the creep factor” is intolerable.

The permanent residents pitched in and volunteered for different tasks and projects that’s what made it all possible.    When you have a trusting owner that sensibly evaluates an idea for an event, gives the go to a competent managment team who isn’t afraid to make a decision, and a support team that lives on site, you can easily have all kinds of events that are entertaining and profitable with minimum liability. This was a perfect example. The other thing is that close relationship of appreciation between residents and owner. Let’s face it. How sweet is it when you have the people who pay to live at your place and donate their time to help make your business profitable? I would want to keep those people happy.

I don’t know exactly how many people came but it was goo to hear people saying they had a good time and they were looking forward to more events like this one.  I hope we have them. Bruce is leaving soon and he does a lot here. I can’t imagine how we can replace him for free. It takes a lot of group participation to pull off an event.

I believe we can change the minds of those seasonal residents that write me saying they will not come here next Winter by showing them the reason they left is no longer here, nor will return and there will be much more fun to be had. We can do this if we have the continued support from the owner.

About Hawk:
Hawk spends most of his days in the dirt trying to beautify naked ghettos.
