Nudism as I see it.
The first thing that comes to mind is a sense of freedom. I can walk out of my home and go to the pool, visit a neighbor, go to the bar, or participate in any of the projects and activities that are happening in my little neighborhood without getting dressed because I live in a nudist camp.
I live at Seminole Nudist Resort in Davie Florida. I like it here and I like how the camp is evolving back into a lush tropical setting. It gets pretty hot here in South Florida and it really doesn’t make sense to me to require clothing.
Yes there is that certain factor that goes along with nudity so the camp management does a sex offender background check on everyone that wants to come in. I am all for that. I have a beautiful girlfriend that I know is not around anyone that has done anything too bad.
Before my girlfriend and I moved to the camp we would make the drive to Haulover Beach in Miami every weekend. We like being naked and love the beach. Since we moved to Seminole we have been to Haulover once. We still love the beach but we don’t miss the “creep factor” that comes with it. Once we went to Ft. Lauderdale Beach on a weekday morning. We were far from other people and up away from the water where people normally walk but we were still visited by six Ft. Lauderdale cops, one from a K-9 unit because we were naked. We didn’t get that many cops for a shooting in our old neighborhood.
We don’t have that creep factor here at Seminole.
I see nudism as a form of acceptance for self and others. Of course people look and notice things about each other. You do it with your clothes on too. You see scars, tattoos, birthmarks and everything else. With the nudist mentality, that’s just who you are and what you look like. No shame, no big deal. That’s a nice change from the mainstream of people who are focused on what you are wearing and the kind of jewelry you have.
We have families with all ages of children dropping by. We have day visitors, seasonal residents, permanent residents and their guests that come and go. We always have a respectful group of people who take good care of their areas. They are an accepting people who are free in nature to enjoy the day without the restriction of clothing.
A nudist can be an old carpenter working on his place, the young man on his cell phone, the young mother chasing the dust footed three year old who is trying to catch a lizard and all the people in between. No nude Nazis here. It’s clothing optional really. Hell, sometimes I’ll wear a hat.
There are some difference between nudist and naturists. You can search the web and come up with a bunch of different definitions. I guess I’m more of a naturist in the way that I love to do landscaping and I would rather see mulch instead of concrete slabs, but that’s just me. I do guerrilla gardening here at the camp. I turn grown over areas into flower beds and gardens when no one is around.
We plan to have our first drum circle on May 2nd, 2009. For pictures of the place and directions how to get here go to seminolenudistresort.com.
Drop on by and say hi.

About Hawk: Hawk spends most of his days in the dirt trying to beautify naked ghettos. |

haha, guerilla gardening, we should make that our next post
Living nude is a lifestyle I have always been fascinated with since I was a child. I never liked cloths but my Mom kept saying you have to keep them on. When I turned twelve I was taken into a nudist park to drop off some paperwork with a friend. It seems nobody got the word out to these people that they had to wear cloths. From that day I was hooked. I visited many Nudists Parks over the years but found Seminole to be what suited me best. It is a rustic park with great personality. It has a locality that is central to Broward County ( Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The pool is clean and the restaurant is new. The entire park had a facelift so the wrinkles of the past have been smoothed over. The rustic look is still there, but the new look has added to the comfort of the park. A few residents have added some new age ideas which are starting to take root. Gardens are sprouting up in strategic locations throughout the park so if food prices go up we just walk over and pick out our salad. Very cool idea, getting back to nature and growing your own food not to mention how great it feels being connection to all of this in the nude.
